Shpock celebrates 50 million downloads and other milestones

Awards, car vertical and growing team - successful first half of 2018 for marketplace app

One milestone follows another: Following the successful launch of PayPal as an in-app payment method and recent Apple & Google awards, Shpock is now celebrating reaching another magical mark: 50 million app downloads. The international success of the startup is driven above all by its rapid growth in the UK.

Making its mark in the UK

The marketplace app is investing heavily in the UK as it continues to strengthen in that market. This has resulted in Shpock being well on the way to the top of mobile marketplace solutions in the UK. In 2018, Shpock is already the most downloaded marketplace app in the UK app stores, with 1.8 million downloads this year to date.[1] 

One driver of this has been the focus on verticals, particularly the motors vertical. "A huge proportion of our users are unique to our motors section, so we have worked hard creating a high class experience for car buyers and sellers alike,” says Steve Grice, Shpock’s UK Head of Sales. To improve this experience further, Shpock launched a professional seller platform, establishing itself as the largest private seller motors marketplace in the UK as well as the fastest growing in terms of new listings.

Larger office and more than 200 team members

To continue this growth on the user side, the Shpock team wants to grow further as well. By the end of the year, the number of team members is expected to increase from around 150 to 200+. A large part of this team will be based in the new London office which offers space for a team of tech monetisation architects and client sales who can put in place ad products, cross-screen partnership models, intent-based audience solutions, according to specific client needs.
